Hey gang,
Wednesday is our last day of class (I still can't believe it!), so I'd like to remind you of what you need to bring:
1. Your menu (board and mock-up)
_I'll keep your boards and mock-ups
In the pocket attached to your board, besides the mock-up you need to have:
- A regular 8.5"x11" saying: name of the designer you chose, what aspect of his/her design you emulated, fonts you used, and the jpg of the piece or pieces they designed that inspired you (you can copy and paste from the internet - it doesn't need to be a high resolution image)
2. If you're resubmitting work, Wednesday is the last day to do so. You can resubmit any project (board and mock-up), just like you did when you first submitted it.
_I'll keep all boards and mock-ups of any resubmissions.
3. A CD/DVD with high resolution JPGs* of ALL of your projects. Make sure you label your projects properly:
FirstnameLastname_Grd3200_Tshirt
FirstnameLastname_Grd3200_Semantics
FirstnameLastname_Grd3200_Brochure
FirstnameLastname_Grd3200_Menu
FirstnameLastname_Grd3200_Ads
*Creating JPGs in Illustrator: FILE>EXPORT>FORMAT (change it from .png to .jpg)
4. You're Restaurant Ads, if you're submitting them. Two boards, one full-size ad in per board.

Brochure_Final critique on Wed, April 7th
Hi gang,
Like we've discussed in class, our final critique has been transferred from Monday to Wednesday, so you have some extra time to finalize your brochures.
Remember to bring a fully mounted mock-up on Monday though. It should be full size, have front and back printed and spray mounted together.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Have a great Easter!
See you on Monday.

Monday is... work from home class (DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL)
Hello!
This is a list of things I expect you do on Monday at home:
1. Work on the layout of of brochure on tracing paper.
2. Work on headers and images. You can create your headers in Illustrator and bring them as an image to InDesign.
3. Make sure you don't have any widows or orphans in your body copy.
4. If applicable, work on the image in the background knowing it can't compete with your copy.
5. Try to have fun with the body copy. Experiment with it. Think outside the box. Leave your comfort zone. Be bold. This will influence your grade.
6. Experiment with the different type styles. Italics and bolds can do wonders!
7. Use different sizes for headers, sub-headers and copy.
8. Make sure your type is readable - print, print, print!
You'll have to bring a color printout of your mock-up on Wednesday because we're having an in-progress critique.

1. Your brochure has at least 750 words.
2. You're using one or two typefaces you've used in your postcard.
3. You have the remittance form (content of the form must be realistic - research existing forms to know what should go in your form)
4. You DO have ALL 3 words of your postcard and that you're using them as they are in the postcard or building upon those graphics.
5. Your brochure fits in a standard envelope.

_ Make sure you have a visual appealing cover for your brochure. It can be all type or a mix of type and image/images.
_ Remember to create an effective visual HIERARCHY with type. This is a crucial part of this project, because it will show that you do understand how to display type in your layout and how well you can work with it.

Homework_Due on March 31
Hey guys,
This is your next homework. It's due on Wednesday, March 31st.
Use a modular grid to arrange a text in as many ways as you can. By employing just one size of type, flush left only, you will construct a typographic hierarchy exclusively by means of spatial arrangement. To make the project more complex, begin adding variables such as weight, size, and alignment.
There's no right or wrong, but you MUST experiment with the layout and with type.
_Use only one typeface family.
_Use the guidelines in InDesign to create the grid.
_You can use any text.
_Print the pages (you can take a snapshot of your computer screen), STAPLES them and bring them to class on March 31st.
